Manchester
Area Bereavement Forum (MABF) is a bereavement support and training
organisation set up by volunteers
in 1993 to offer support to people experiencing loss and those
caring agencies involved in bereavement work within a variety
of professional and non-professional settings.
The forum is organised through a management committee managed
on a daily basis by those volunteers who co-ordinate the activities
of the organisation.
The Aims Of The Forum Are:
To
raise awareness of the needs of
bereaved
people
To
increase co-operation between groups
who provide
bereavement services
To
provide training and education in
bereavement
support
To
act as a resource for agencies involved
in helping
those experiencing loss
Providing effective bereavement support
to voluntary and professional groups, we conduct training courses
which are run by a professional team led by a training co-ordinator.
We can offer advice and guidance on a wide range of matters
from choosing the type of course to setting up your own bereavement
support service. The forum is able to provide speakers for a
variety of events such as church meetings, educational groups,
courses and conferences. We have a number of professional speakers
from a range of backgrounds who are able to come to your organisation
and discuss the work of the MABF and bereavement support. Contact
us for more details.
Membership plays a large part in
funding the MABF. However our largest means of funding comes
from our Annual Conference It is
vital that we raise funds if we are to continue to give support.
Although MABF welcomes members, we know that not everyone has
the time or inclination for this work - however, you can help
bereaved people in a very practical way by making a donation.
